Children’s Classes

Mommy & Me (Ages 6 mo. to 2.5 yr.)
Babies can respond to music before they can do a lot of things. You and your child will be singing songs and dancing. Rhythm, melody and harmony will be explored. This is a great chance to bond with your child while developing basic movement skills.

Creative Movement (Ages 2 to 3.5)
Creative Movement is a joyful way for children to explore movement through music, develop physical skills, channel energy, stimulate imagination and promote creativity. Creative Movement uses body actions to communicate an image, an idea, or a feeling. Through movement, children learn about their bodies, the space around them, and each other.

Pre Dance (Ages 2.9 to 6)
Children will learn the basics of ballet and tap with an introduction to tumbling. Early development of coordination, rhythm and movement will be demonstrated.

Boys Only (Ages 5+)
As the name implies, this class is geared towards boys. With an emphasis on Hip Hop and Tumbing, Tap may also be introduced.

Ballet (Ages 6+)
Students will concentrate on the importance of correct body alignment, balance and flexibility. Ballet is the foundation for all other dance styles.

Jazz (Ages 6+)
This class explores traditional jazz through dynamic movement and helps to improve coordination.

Tap (Ages 6+)
Students will work to enhance rhythm, timing and coordination through this style of dance.

Irish Stepdance (Ages 6+)
Irish Stepdance is known for its rapid leg movements while keeping the body and arms stationary. Its benefits include physical fitness, poise and confidence.

Hip-Hop (Ages 7+)
This class focuses on learning the latest moves to the most popular music. Strengthening and conditioning will be included.

Gymnastics (Ages 7+)
Keep up the basic skills learned in our pre-dance class. This class increases flexibility, develops coordination skills and strengthens cognitive skills.

 

Zumbatomics (Ages 7+)
A fusion of jazz, hip hop, and Latin dance. Strengthening muscles while learning various dance styles. “Ditch the routine – join the party!”

Pointé (Ages 12+)
An extension of ballet using special shoes. A minimum of 5 years of ballet training is necessary. Pointé is for the technically improved dancer only. An evaluation is necessary for enrollment.

Musical Theatre (Ages 7+)
Musical Theatre is a form of theatre combining songs, spoken dialogue and dance. The emotional content of the piece, as well as the story itself, is communicated through the words, music, movement and technical aspects of the entertainment as an integrated whole.

Contemporary (Ages 12+)
A fusion of ballet and jazz.creativity enhanced by improvisation. Ballet lessons must be taken in conjunction with this class.

Private
Private lessons are designed specifically for each dancer. Students will receive individualized choreography and assistance for ANY style of dance. Multiple lessons per week may be taught.

Performance Company
For the dancer looking for more performance opportunities. Dancers will have several shows throughout the year including nursing homes and local events. Attendance is mandatory for all classes. Student must be enrolled in Ballet, Jazz and Tap classes.

Dance Team
For the serious technical dancer who is looking to compete throughout the year. A minimum of 2 competitions will be attended. Mandatory attendance is required for 90 minutes weekly. Styles of dance will be determined after first lesson.

Entry is based on audition only. Any scheduling conflicts must be addressed within the first month of class. A last minute absentee or withdrawal is unacceptable and will prohibit future admittance.

In addition to team practice, students must be enrolled in a minimum of 1.5 hour weekly lessons (ages 6-9), a minimum of 2.25 hour weekly lessons (ages 10-12), and a minimum 3.5 hours of weekly lessons (ages 13 plus).
